Get Involved for the Students
Trinity Christian School is a parent-run school that relies on parental involvement and support. We are blessed with many dedicated volunteers and could not exist without them! The G.I.F.T.S program is intended to encourage participation within the school and to give families a greater investment in the education of their children. At the same time, it reduces costs and enhances the service that we are able to provide.
Regular, dedicated volunteers are required for Board and committee positions, for class trips, library, Grandparents Day, etc. The weekly newsletter regularly communicates information concerning areas that require volunteers or additional support.
Each family is expected to contribute 30 hours (15 hours for single parents) of service during the school year. A cheque for $1,000 ($500.00 for single parents) dated June 1, 2016, must be submitted at the time of re-registration. This cheque will be held by Trinity until you have completed your G.I.F.T.S hours. Each family is required to record their own hours on time sheets available through the office or from the web site found here on our Forms page.
Once a record of your hours has been received in the office, your cheque will be returned to you. If you are not able to complete the 30 hours, a refund cheque for the portion of the completed hours (# hrs x $33.33/hr) will be sent to you before your cheque is deposited on June 1, 2016. This will give you an opportunity to deposit the reimbursement cheque before your $1,000 cheque is cashed.
We recognize that not all of our parents are able to volunteer their time. If there are extenuating circumstances that prevent a family from fulfilling the participation requirements, individual cases will be reviewed and exceptions may be made where warranted.
Watch our weekly newsletter for opportunities to get involved! There are many ways to volunteer, including but not limited to board and committee work, help with Pizza Days, library support, and chaperoning class trips. New volunteers and new ideas are always welcome and necessary to maintain a strong and supportive community!
