In Grades 3 and 4, students begin to think more independently, marking an important stage where they can be expected to step up to meet greater academic demands and take increased ownership of learning goals and success criteria.
Students continue to be encouraged to ask good questions and gain skills in research and investigation to find answers. These grades provide increased possibilities for collaborative learning toward common and meaningful goals. Hands-on learning and project work provide opportunities to gain knowledge and to celebrate learning. Third and fourth graders continue to develop their ability to work independently, in small groups, and as a whole class. At this age, social relationships grow in their importance.
As personal understanding of God and His world develops, students are often ready to be challenged in expressing a personal faith and reach higher expectations of character integrity.
