In Grades 5 and 6 , there is a greater focus on students taking ownership and responsibility of their own learning as they refine their learning skills and become more independent thinkers.

In this division there is a greater focus on the application of skills learned in the primary grades, coupled with co-creating learning goals and success criteria, and using varying tools and methods of assessment. Beautiful work is created when both teacher and peer feedback is given to improve learning.

Collaborative work is an integral part of this process where students gain confidence through group work. Opportunities to enhance leadership skills are encouraged through participation in chapel and assemblies. Students can also mix with their peers through active participation in intramurals at lunch recess.

Teaching is a rewarding position that is both demanding and inspiring. It is my true passion to be the Lord’s hands and feet to my students, instructing them, to the best of my ability, to be His servants. It is my prayer, every year, that we journey together to discover the gifts that God has blessed us with, be challenged academically, and to develop confidence in the people that God has created us to be.

So when the time came to make a career choice, I found myself attracted to the field of education. After 30 years of working with students in several Christian schools at various grade levels, I can only be amazed by God’s hand in my decision. The past 18 years have been at Trinity; over the years I’ve had the opportunity to work in an environment where Christian values are nurtured, and where I could share amazing curriculum with students and in turn observe excitement and growth. Teaching has enabled me to build relationships with numerous students, parents and colleagues. It has truly been a challenging and rewarding career choice.

I have been invested in and passionate about working with children ever since I was in elementary school. It wasn’t until my university years, however, that I discovered my true calling: teaching. It is no small matter to be entrusted with the growth and development of a child, and so I walk with Christ daily as I work out my calling with reverence and joy. Although I serve a classroom full of students, I always see and deeply value each and every student, working to provide a personalized and meaningful education for each child while transforming the classroom into a community of learners. I can’t wait to build and strengthen relationships throughout this year.

I studied Rehabilitation Sciences at Western University and received my Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2014. I then continued on to Western’s Faculty of Education and completed my Bachelor of Education in 2015.
I am excited by the new challenges that come with teaching in the Junior division this year! I so enjoy working with children, they open my eyes daily to God’s beauty all around us and remind me to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. I love coming to work in a place where I can grow in faith together with my class, as a staff and as an overarching school community.
