Painting a Canvas

God’s Masterpieces

Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in a unique musical workshop. We started by listening to musical pieces and describing the emotions and adjectives that best represented what we heard. Afterwards, everyone shared the words that they had jotted down. It was fascinating to see how similar emotions and descriptions came out with certain genres; whereas polar opposite responses came through for other musical categories.

From there, we discussed which adjectives ought to be represented in the creation of a new musical piece, as well as the types of elements that should be present to match the desired emotional response.  It was also worth noting that various instruments were associated with creating emotions or setting certain tones.  All of these elements in the hands of a skillful composer and producer will then create a beautiful end product.

God has created each of us in a similar fashion. According to genetic scientists, our DNA is 99.9% the same, regardless of our ethnicity or gender. On the other hand, we are also unique with no two human beings exactly the same. Each of us experiences life differently through the emotions that God has given us. Yet, God has designed us to work together relationally in order to produce a melody of praise unto Him, as we live out His Shalom in harmony. He sometimes needs to tune us to the frequency that He desires to ensure that we are in sync with one another.

Ultimately, He is the one that brings us together for His glory. Here at Trinity, we desire for God to fine tune each of us. We realize that we are a part of something much bigger than ourselves, and God is the one that is at the center of our community.  He is the one who is orchestrating things and knows exactly which unique notes and sounds that He can bring out of us to create a masterpiece.

Sincerely,
