Leadership Retreat

Last week, our Admin team, (Mrs. Flokstra, Mrs. McGregor, and myself) had the privilege of attending the Edvance Fall Leadership Retreat held at Hockley Valley. The fall colours were on full display and we were able to observe God’s beautiful creation all around us. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect and have fellowship with other Christian school leaders from around the province after not being able to do so in person for the past 2 years.
In addition, we were able to worship and pray together, while being challenged spiritually through timely devotionals and talks. One of the guest speakers, Danielle Strickland, spoke about being/becoming Leaders of Influence and Cultivating Curiosity in our schools. She highlighted the notion that discomfort is often what leads us to wake up. We have certainly experienced our share of discomfort with all that has taken place the last 2 years in our world, but it’s important for us to be in tune with Jesus’ agenda in all of it.

Another point that resonated with me is the impetus for our decision making. If the motivation behind our decisions is fear, we will either be oppressed or be an oppressor. Fear ultimately will lead us to mistakes. Instead, love should be our motivator. As we make the space for Jesus’ love to lead, it will bring forth fruitfulness and miracles. As a school, we want to make sure we are leading from a place of love and care, rather than a position of fear of what may come against us or what is to come. We want to follow wherever Jesus is leading us and be fully present in the moment to take care of the needs at hand.

We invite you to pray for us as we continue to seek God’s wisdom, guidance, and direction as we lead the school that He has entrusted to us. We also challenge you to think about how God is leading you in your own life and how His love can overcome the obstacles that fear brings our way.

Sincerely,
J-D Lussier, Principal
